Welcome to the first Blog dedicated to visiting Munich and the annual Oktoberfest ritual. Many of us have been visiting this “celebration of all celebrations” as a group since 1993. We hope to share our experiences, provide tips for visiting, and give you our views on the typical “what to do” and “what not to do”. But primarily we want to have some good discussions with those of you who love beer, and may or may not have ever visited this fine event.

Transportation Question
1. I believe we will just be traveling in the inter city, which tick should I get the Munich XXL (München XXL) - white and green zone or the 3 Days Inner District - white zone?
2. Would these tickets be good for all the local forms of city transportation? Such as S-ban, U-ban, and Bus?
3. With the fest going on would it even be worth it to use the city transportation system or should we just stick to feet and taxi?

#1. In my humble opinion, buy the tickets daily, that way you know which zones to get. And always get a Partner Day Ticket, it covers up to 5 people traveling together; best value ever.
If you haven't gone to the MVV site yet, go here ---> http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home/tickets/ticketoffers/index.html
All the ticket info you would ever need.
Helpful as always Chugger, thanks!!! I currently am paging through the BDG2M looking for more information. (I love this book!)
Nothing better than BDG2M; aka "The World according to Larry".
Also, to answer your other questions...
#2. Tickets good for just about everything.
#3. No problem on the S/U-Bahn. Will be crowded at night, though.
Taxis are a good tactical move, but I agree with Chugger, make your primary travel on the S-Bahn and U-Bahn. Even though they can get crowded near the fest, they are reliable and quick.
