Proposed Trip to Weltenburg

For those of you reading this blog, you know that we have a proposed trip to Kloster Weltenburg on our agenda. While this seems like a great place to visit, getting there is a bit of a challenge. In addition, it even breaks our rule of a 2 hour or less trip. Nonetheless, it certainly seems well worth it. With that said, please reference this Web Page for a proposed itinerary for getting there. If you have any issues, problems or suggestions, let them be known and/or figure out a better way.

Prosit!

Seems OK, but we could hire transport/private car-limo-bus on one of the two ways in order to either get there or back more efficiently. Thoughts?

I think Chugger is one step ahead... he scoped it out, and it will take much more planning as the van/driver needs to be reserved ahead of time.

I did check some things out, and a van that only holds 6 passengers is 250 Euros. That's round trip, but only 6 people.

We also discussed the downside of having the "Orchestra" in a confined space, like a van. At least a train has vestibules for any inappropriate concerting.

Let's hear it for the Hefe Weisen Concerto in D-minor....

Boom Booom Boom Boom; Boom Booom Boom Boom;Boom Booom Boom Boooooooom !

I propose renting a driver/bus to take us to Kelheim in the morning (direct from our hotel); take the boat to Weltenburg; enjoy our day; and have the driver/bus pick us up at Weltenburg for the short drive back to Munchen. If the train fare is 38e each and the are ten of us going (more likely 14) then a roundtrip bus rental of 400e is in range.

We still get the boat trip (one way), the Weltenburg experience, and we don't spend six hours in travel (three each way,) plus, we get to dictate our time of arrival / departure so might not need a 6:44 am departure.

Thoughts? Estimated count of people on this day-trip?

Jane, C, and I yes; Jack/Mac maybe;
