I did some quick looking, and the new Marriott that Grumpy and Mrs. Grumpy will be staying at is only about a 15 mins. U-Bahn ride from the Hauptbahnhof. Just take the U6 and get off at Nordfriedhof, then a few minute walk to the hotel. (all caveats apply, please check your local listings)

I need to speak up, rather than let Grumpy spend endless hours searching for the Hauptbahnhof.
From their Hotel.. (reverse on way home)
It is U6 from Nordfriedhof, 4 stops to Odeonplatz, change to U4 or U5 to Hauptbahnhof.
or
U6 to sendlingto, connect with funky U7, to Hbf.
U6 never goes to Hbf, but it does go to Marienplatz, which is near Hofbrauhaus. ;-)
Interesting that Grumpy is near the University section. We have never prowled the student section of town......Isn't that where the house of 101 biers is?
