Time to start learning German!

In order to be fluent, the team needs to start learning key German phrases and words. While Bier, Ja, Nein, Nicht, Bahnhof, Hendl, Poleiz, wurst, wasser, Pissort are enough to get by for the whole week, to truly experience Germany requires extra work on our linguistic abilities....

Word of the week (very important based on previous trips...)

Schoaß (n.) methane containing, foul smelling puff, often caused by digestion procedures. Not popular in the beer tents.

Not popular on trains, or the hotel rooms either.

While I'm not too sure about the true origins of Schoaß, please be aware that it is not related to, and not even close in terms of meaning to another commonly used word, "einfahrt"; (n.)entrance, entry or gateway.

Checking the German dictionary, I cannot findthe word Schoaß. Maybe BarleyMan could be more specific. Is it a dialect?

barbus.... I did find BarleyMan's exact definition on the Oktoberfest Dictionary site. For the linguistically challenged Dutch speakers...

Schoaß (Sub.)
vieze methaanlucht, ontstaat meestal door een slechte indigestie.
Wordt niet graag gezien (geroken!) in de biertent.

Hey Chugger,
Thanks for the tip. It is Bairisch and we better not try to speak. They will take us in prison for public drunkenness.
