A Series of Nothing

We're coming to the end. The end of waiting. Travel times are becoming less some distant future and more an anticipation of collecting various chargers, packing, and getting coinage. With that, the end of the Nothing series of postings is nigh. While never a particularly popular series, it has had it's amusing moments - from the uberblogmeister's sputtering to Barley's ideological support of Nothing. Only one more of these to come.

I wonder what I can arrange as the big next thing for Nothing.

Tsjee, never thought that people by saying nothing could save themselve for not paying a round of beer for his friends ......

I assume, Einfahrt, that you will be having these essays bound into a volume?

"A Treatise of Nothing" - A boundless analysis of the meaning of nothing, Einfarht explores the depths of abandonment of substance, while maintaining the ever present appearance of substance. Motivated solely by peer pressure, and the avoidance of debt, Einfahrt has once again established himself as a paramour of deep thought.

Since Einfart not only proclaims but flaunts his nothingness, I, as the proclaimed Ober Fuhrer of the blog, may treat the post about nothing as nothing.
This means his credit for this week may be nothing as well.

What sayeth the Oktoberfestians?

Well: addressing the various attacks on my motives. Yes, since the rules for the posting were only that we post once a week, I thereby avoid buying beers. No, peer pressure has little to do with it, as peer pressure existed prior to the beer-round posting ruling. Finally, retroactive declarations of what constitutes a post is interesting, but does not persuade, and persuasion is what is needed to enforce this particular game. Finally, I just plain don't have a lot to say that hasn't already been said, and said again, regarding Munich and Oktoberfest. I'm looking forward to it, and my friends, and the sights, and the beer and food. There: said yet again.

BTW, I'll note that the most commented upon posts have been those of this series.

No, there won't be a bound volume.

So... I guess I shouldn't wait for the book tour? ;-)

I vote nay on the revocation of credit. The rules were somewhat loose, and after all, we'll get his ATM card soon enough. ;-)

Barley,

Thank you for your kind thoughts, and I note those more avaricious.

However, the power to grant or deny my posting rests not with the uberblogmeister; nay not even with the populist vote.

The rights granted the oberblogmeister were to create and administer the contest of those who voluntarily agreed to participate and under the rules at the time of that agreement.

The oberblogmeister would not take upon himself powers not granted in that original agreement and the population does not have the power to force compliance to anything other than the voluntarily agreed upon rules.

I fear not the sturm und drang (storm and stress) of opinion and rhetoric - I enjoy it. Yet, I do not believe that rhetorical flourish or populist opinion alter my rights or the rights of others.

And I'll drink to that - in Munchen! I'll even buy a round for those (in our group) that celebrate unalterable rights.

Or, put more succinctly: Cheers Big Ears!
