Join us as we plan and document our travels to the land of pork products and the golden nectar; Oktoberfest. Enjoy as we experience a World Class Event full of fun, frivolity and Gemütlichkeit.
Here's the countdown to the start of Oktoberfest 2025...
I see you mention your "favorite beer halls" in the Oktoberfest Resource Page. Which might those be?? I have been going through the BDG2M and I have so many that I want to hit. A really great book. So glad I got it...
Never been To a bad beer hall, but anything with 4 or 5 stiens is great. Some favs:
Hofbrauhaus Augustiner grossgaststatte(esp outside in the platz) Augustiner keller.. Outside under the trees Waldwirtschaft (call ahead). For dinner. Isar brau at train station good too Kloster andechs
- Hofbrauhaus is a must because it is tradition. It can be very touristy, but nonetheless, always a good time. This is always our first stop on Friday afternoon.
- Augustiner Keller, just down the street from Hotel Alfa, is always a great stop late at night. The outside garden is wonderful under the trees.
- The small bier garden at the Viktualienmarkt is also a nice place under th etrees just to drink and watch people.
As BarleyMan said, if Larry rates it a 4 or higher, it is worth checking out. Get yourself a shirt to "keep track". ---> http://www.beerdrinkersguide.com/BDGWebsite/Shopping/ScorecardView.htm
I had certainly expected to hook up with you guys at least on Friday for the Hofbrauhaus. We will be training in from Amsterdam, and I think will probably arrive at the Hauptbahnhof around 14:30.
Sounds Great!!! Looking forward to seeing you guys. Our plane lands at 10:15 am on Thursday, from there we drop our luggage off at the Alfa (if they let us do that) and will head out to the Augustiner Keller..

Thursday early afternoon might be a great time to go the Wiesn as well. Crowds shouldn't be too bad.
If your room at the Alfa isn't available, they will certainly hold your luggage for you.
Augustiner Keller is on the way (if you are walking) to the fest. Perfecto!
Huh.. look at us, March Madness weekend, and we are sitting around thinking about beer. Go figure. ;-)
