1st Proposed Daily Itinerary

Here is the first draft of a daily itinerary for next year's trip. Questions to be discussed:

  1. Are these the right cities?
  2. Enough/too much time in each?

Have at it...

I admit that I have not paid attention to the blog in a long time. Various other things had my attention. I will follow it more closely now and as discussed at lunch yesterday I am interested in the Bier Immersion 2021 trip. I checked the earlier posts listing possible biers at the first 2 stops on the tour. I feel compelled to point out that both of the beers are sours that someone I know much maligns. :-)

German sours are different. They even spell it differently; sauer.

Agreed that they are different than some of the new styled grapefruit added. How about Belgian sours. I'll bring you one for dinner. Most that I have at home now are in 750ml bottle. I did find one small sized bottle to annoy you with.

My first comment: skip Düsseldorf and add Stuttgart. Canstatter Volksfest is great fun!

Does Stuttgart have a unique style of bier for the region?

The fest might not be an alternative to Dusseldorf. It doesn't even start until 24 September, during Oktoberfest.

Mea Culpa Mea Culpa....

How silly of me to propose an intinerary that has us in Munchen like we usually do. With many of us no longer fully/gainfully employed, we do have the flexibility to alter our schedule.

Just a thought.

So we can visit Munchen AND Stuttgart ?

Not all of us are retired... I am game to all of the above, but may need to moderate the number of days in country.

Just for the record, I did say "With many of us".

So it looks like 4-5 interested parties.

Sorry guys,

Wanted to add a couple of discussion points. I hope to heck I am retired by the time this trip hits!

What about a visit to Kulmbach in upper Bavaria? My understanding they might have brewed the strongest bier in germany at one time. What i find interseting they are also known for their famous suauges and have actuall sausage stalls where thery serve STOLLA. Lets see,,, an old brewery, a castle, and sausage and sausage stals to consume said sausage, and bier gartens. I am surised that Keith is not petitioning Centerville to make this place a sister city!

Kulmbach could be a good opportunity. Only a 40 minute train ride east of Bamberg.

Kulmbach sounds pretty cool. AND they have the German Equivalent to the World's largest ball of twine... the largest tin soldier museum in the world.
