Day Trip Discussion...

Should we think about one of the following repeat visits, or is there something new that we haven't done? Remember the guidelines, the journey should not be any longer than 2.5 hours each way. We want to spend a good amount of time there, but also not be traveling all day.

So...
  1. Rothenburg ob der Tauber
  2. Bamberg
  3. Kloster Weltenburg

Let's hear thoughts or alternatives. Of course Kloster Andechs is on the agenda.

All wonderful choices. The Kloster looks very beautiful. Need to find some golden brew near the Kloster.

Been watching the Olympic channel all weekend. Enjoying watching the Luge and bobsled in Konnigsee/Berchesgarten. But I think that trip is not enough bang for a buck...

Kloster Benediktbeuern does look interesting. It is only a quick hour train ride, and there is a Braustuberl.

Another repeat option I did not mention is Bräustüberl Tegernsee.

Just south of Kloster Benediktbeuern is an Alpine Village on the Kochelsee. Only a 15 minute bus ride.

We might have the makings of a true day trip here.

Surprisingly there is an RB train direct from Munchen. Runs every hour, and takes about an hour.

Yes, I saw the train schedule. And early morning to Kloster with a stop at the Braustuberl, then maybe the Village. What is the name of the village?

The Village is Kochel.

And the same train from Munich to Benedikbeuern goes to Kochel.

@chugger: saw you missed Tegernsee but then I looked for an alternative. Found Benediktbeuern. Really like the add-ion Kochel. I call it a plan!!!

Here is a day trip idea Tegernsee Germany I hour train from Munich. Wheat bier, spaetzle (with cheese), a nice train ride back to mix the ingredients and bam! You know the rest.

Tergensee is a great place, right on the lake.
