It's that time of year when planning for Oktoberfest should be in full gear. Unfortunately, no activity for this year.
Chugger and Designated Walker will be on a 6 week trip to The Land Down Under/Oz this year, so no visit for us. Flying Dan has teased a last minute excursion, but one never knows. Maybe we have a final group get together next year to celebrate 33 years of our first group visit. We are all retired (hoping for Barley Man to join the club) so we have plenty of time on our hands. Flying Dan is also teasing a potential visit to Dubai early next year. Stay tuned for that one.
Chime in on your thoughts for this Memorial Day weekend. I think we'll have an early celebration today with some bier and brats in memory of our WWII vets who liberated München so we could drink wonderful bier.
Prost to all

Sorry I could not resist the rest of the story. We need to toast the US Seventh Army
Munich was captured by the U.S. Army during World War II, specifically by units of the U.S. Seventh Army.
More specifically, on April 30, 1945, Munich was captured by the 42nd Infantry Division, the 45th Infantry Division, and the 20th Armored Division, all part of the U.S. Seventh Army.
These divisions played a significant role in the final stages of the war in Europe, contributing to the defeat of Nazi Germany. The 42nd and 45th Infantry Divisions are also recognized for their role in liberating the Dachau concentration camp, located near Munich, on April 29, 1945.
Yes, I need to retire. But not today. I am looking forward to our next trip to Munich, we have a trip planned down under this winter (their summer), but other than that, our dance card is free.
Barley Man.... When are you going dish under? We leave 30 September return first week of November.
DOWN under
Down under as in New Zealand in Feb 2026. 2 weeks of sailing and drinking.
Next year might be a possibility. Can we include a day in Belgium to pick up some stinky cheese?
Only if you room with Flying Dan so he can absorb the fumes.
Well, i was thinking, we should make the stop in Belgium on the way home so bob can bring the cheese on the plane. It would be neat to see a plane divert to Greenland ( Soon to be the 51st state) due to toxic and polluted air. I could say I know the guy that caused that disaster!
