There Might Be Hope Afterall !

While not official yet, it looks like the EU will be allowing travel from the U.S. for vaccinated people. Even if no Oktoberfest, we will need to decide on travel.

Hopefully this would mean no Friggin Masks as well.

One would think that is you have to be vaccinated to enter the EU from the US (although they do currently allow unvaccinated in for essential travel) that the airlines would drop the mask requirements on flights to the EU but I have string doubts that that will be the case for the foreseeable future. Once they have an restriction in place they are wont to remove it. The problem will be when do they lift the restrictions relative to when we would need to make reservations. I am strongly opposed to having to be on a plane for 9+ hours and forced to wear a mask the whole time. We shall see. Chugger seems ever hopeful.

I am hopeful, but certainly not interested if masks are required. It is more than the 9 hour flight; think about the airport before, airport during connection, airport on arrival and maybe even trains from airport.

Argh.

Time to start planning Hofbrauhaus trip!

Not sure the mask thing would stop me. For me, it's not a big deal. We leave to French Polynesia next week, Ill let you know how the flight went. Some masks are more comfortable than others. You should get a few of different material and try them out.

I don’t need no stinking mask. I’m vaccinated!

Screw Fauci.

BarleyMan said...

Its not Fauci, it's common sense & based on science. Sorry Chugger.

BarleyMan, I would like to see any scientific study that even suggests yet alone proves that masks serve any purpose after one has been vaccinated. They might be useful for showing solidarity with the unvaccinated among us but I would love to see how they serve any scientific purpose. Where is the common sense in it?

Chugger said...

Sorry Barley Man, it’s none of the above. Why the fuck get vaccinated then?

Fauci actually said the vaccine prevents or limits your illness, and limits/eliminates spread. If the only ones possibly affected are the non vaccinated folks, fuck ‘em.

Glad to see you continue to follow mind numbing Biden control spew. Yeah Clockwork Orange.

You can still catch and carry the disease after Vaccination. Thats a fact. I see you guys are still spun up on crackpot conspiracy theories about masks. Sorry to see normally intelligent people fall for that stuff. I suppose next you'll try to convince me Biden will ban Hamburgers. LOL.

So yes, you can still get and transmit Covid after vaccination. Less likely, but not 0. Maybe by fall the occurrences will drop enough so it won't be necessary. Lets hope so.

"You can still catch and carry the disease after Vaccination. Thats a fact."
True, but why not look on the positive side.. There's a 95% chance nothing will happen, and very limited if it does.

Again, if you are trying to protect the unvaccinated, get them vaccinated. There's no evidence that waiting for the fall will change any of that.

Biden is already behind banning hamburgers.. Haven't you eaten the Beyond Burger :-)

Off to the shower and then a drink.

Dave, When in doubt call people names and switch the topic. Are masks 100% effective in stopping transmission. Is there any study that shows a vaccinated person is less likely to catch or spread the infection? Sorry, I put little faith in what the CDC says as it is constantly changing. Please don't give me the 'the science changes' excuse. The CDC answers have been attempts to control the population one way or another. First it was masks are of no help when they didn't want the public buying up supply. Now they are essential even for those who are vaccinated. Come on, man.

Dopplebach...

I like what you did there.. Come on man 😀

I didn't call anyone names. Are you creating controversy? Didn't change the subject.

And the CDC has been very consistent, as has my wife (>40 years in healthcare). Yes, there was some inconsistency at the begging of the worse pandemic we've seen in a century. Hmmm.

My parents grew up with WWI, the Great Depression, and WWII. They had to sacrifice a lot for their country. Today's Americans can't even wear a mask to protect others. Sad how weak & selfish Americans have become.

I'll wear a mask, on the advice of medical professionals, like my wife. I'll also piss and moan about beer selection, or lack there of. But wearing a mask. Not a big deal.

I consider being accused of falling for crackpot conspiracy theories name calling. I considered the reference to banning hamburgers changing the subject. While I doubt that wearing a mask after being vaccinated is pretty much useless I may have missed where you showed me a scientific study that shows their value among those who have been vaccinated. The discussion did get a bit sidetracked from the original talking point.

I will be interested to hear how your coming flight goes. I have worn a mask for nearly 3 hours strait during the appointments for the Pfizer trial. It was enough to make me sure that I have no intention of subjecting myself to a situation where I have to have one in place for 10 to 12 hours. I will pass on the trip if those kinds of mandates are still in place.

I have not read anything about how they deal with food and drink service. I did read an article on Southwest coming up with a drink ordering process that didn't require people to talk but that implies that they do provide drinks. Are you allowed to remove your mask while drinking? Must you put it back between sips? Again it seems rather silly and not backed by science.

Actually Doppleboch, I was responding the crackpot accusation that I "continue to follow mind numbing Biden control spew. Yeah Clockwork Orange."

Unlike others, for me it is not political. Just common sense. Eventually they will loosen the public health guidelines as the severity weakens and more is known about viral rates after vaccination. At this point no one in healthcare is going to say, "Sure, put yourself in a tube with 300 people for 9 hours, and don't do anything to prevent the spread. and you'll be OK." That's flat out irresponsible.

I am a believer of science without political influence. If you believe the CDC has not been comprised politically by both sides then you are living in a dream world.
Mask may slow the spread, but they won't prevent the spread. When the CDC recommended doubling your mask count, and we went 6 months with one and then they say two is better then common sense says they do not have a fricking clue.
The bottom line is the micro particle is smaller than a non specialized (ie surgical fitted mask) that most people wear. Now that last sentence is a fact and common sense says if it can be exhaled through the mask then it can be spread.
The CDC can control the outcome of any study. Peer reviews can be tainted. Facts can be withheld to make a conclusion fit any narrative. It is the world we live in.
If you put your faith in science without questioning the sources you might you are as guilty as the conspiracy theorist.

Seat belts aren't 100% effective either, but we wear them. And they save lives. Particles can go through the mask. BUT they are slowed down, and don't spread as far. We all don['t wear N85 masks. But every little bit helps.
